ACTIVITIES

Imagine Forsyth County in 2037.  How did we get there?  Be a part of the effort that led us to achieve our vision!  Join public input sessions starting this April 2016 to begin providing input to Forsyth County’s comprehensive plan update, Foster Forsyth.

Foster Forsyth provides an opportunity for our community as a whole to pause and have a meaningful dialogue about our vision for Forsyth County as it relates to housing, quality of life, employment opportunities and the policies and programs that will support plan implementation.

The planning process is being led by the Consultant team of Jacobs Engineering and Kimley Horn and Associates in close coordination with two citizen led committees representing the diverse voices of the Forsyth community (including you!) and the County’s Planning and Community Development Department. Join us!

PUBLIC EVENTS

The planning process officially “kicked-off” in a series of two public hearings that introduced the comprehensive plan update purpose, schedule and overall update process that encompasses public feedback activities.

The April workshops are the first set of a series of four public input forums occurring throughout 2016 to help collect input for the update of the County’s Comprehensive Plan. Action on the plan by the Board of Commissioners is anticipated for December 2016.

COMMUNITY EVENT KIOSKS

Look for Foster Forsyth this spring and summer out in the community!

We will be hosting event kiosks at four different times this spring and early summer. The goal of the kiosks is to help get the word out about the comprehensive plan update – why it matters - and encourage folks to get involved! The planning team will be taking on-the-spot input from community members and helping answer questions.

COMMITTEES

Two County-appointed committees are helping guide the visioning and planning process. A total of five meetings with these committees are being held, three joint committee meetings and two standalone steering committee meetings.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS

VISION COMMITTEE

What kind of place does Forsyth County want to be? The Vision Committee will address this question by establishing a vision for the County. This committee plays a central role in identifying overarching goals, so its efforts are concentrated early in the planning process. The Vision Committee will participate in three joint committee meetings held on April 11, May 2, and July 14.
