OUR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
Welcome to the Forsyth County Comprehensive Plan Update. Over the next year, Forsyth County will work with residents, businesses, community organizations, elected officials, and stakeholders to create a shared vision for the county's future.
As Forsyth County continues to evolve, this planning process will help establish land use patterns which will guide future infrastructure, services, community character, and quality of life. Your ideas, experiences, and priorities will play an important role in shaping the updated plan.
Plan Overview
Phase 1: Needs Assessment & Visioning
Learn about community needs, opportunities, and aspirations through public engagement, stakeholder outreach, and technical analysis.
Phase 2: Plan Framework Update
Develop updates to the vision, goals, policies, and future land use recommendations based on community input and technical findings.
Phase 3: Plan Documentation & Adoption
Prepare the draft plan, gather final public feedback, and complete the review and adoption process.
The Comprehensive Plan Update is a community-centered process that will evaluate current conditions, identify opportunities and challenges, and establish a vision for the county's future growth and development.
The updated plan will build on the 2022 Comprehensive Plan documents and other planning efforts since that time while also responding to changing desires of Forsyth County as growth and development pressures build across the County. The Comprehensive Plan update will allow the County to take a proactive approach to development pressures, rather than reactive.
